Bonus buy slots let you skip the wait: instead of spinning until three scatters land, you pay a fixed price and go straight into free spins. It is exciting and fast, and also one of the quickest ways to burn through a bankroll. Here is how it works.
How feature buys work
The game offers a "Buy Bonus" button priced as a multiple of your bet, typically 50x to 200x. At €1 per spin, a 100x buy costs €100. You then play the bonus round, which may pay anything from a fraction of the cost to thousands of times your stake.
RTP and volatility
- The buy feature has its own RTP, stated in the game info. It is often similar to base play, sometimes slightly higher.
- Volatility is extreme: most buys return less than their cost, a few return much more. See slot volatility explained.
- Because each buy is a large single bet, losses add up very quickly.
Where bonus buys are restricted
Several regulators, including the UK Gambling Commission, have banned or restricted feature buys because they encourage fast, high-stakes play. Availability depends on the casino's licence and your country.
Bonus buys and casino bonuses
Most bonus terms list feature buys as a prohibited action while wagering, and many also cap the max bet (see max bet rules). Buying a bonus with bonus money is one of the most common reasons winnings are confiscated.
Should you use them?
Only with a budget set aside for it, never to chase losses, and only if you understand that most buys lose. For longer, calmer sessions, standard spins on a lower-volatility game with a good RTP are the better choice.

Frequently asked questions
What is a bonus buy slot?
A slot that lets you pay a fixed price, often 50x–200x your stake, to trigger the bonus round immediately instead of waiting for scatters.
Does buying the bonus improve the RTP?
Sometimes slightly, but not always. The RTP of the buy feature is listed separately in the game rules; it can be equal to, higher or lower than base play.
Can I use bonus buys with a casino bonus?
Usually not. Most casinos exclude bonus buy features while a bonus is active, and using them can void your winnings.
